Abandonment of Tech Fundamentals
Is the tech industry losing its way?
Developers are over relying on LLMs to generate basic programming commands which they should already know.
So instead of using AI to help learn new concepts or pair programming, people are creating major dependencies on a product, at least in current state, that is heavily subsidized with variable costs that can easily blow up an IT budget.
Working in the data industry, I see this a lot. Why actually learn SQL when you can use the lottery machine? What happens if your favorite coding harness or model no longer works? Can you actually debug the code you "shipped"?
I bet that companies in the future will find a ton of vibe code in production environments that will need to be ripped out entirely.
